National Librarian Day on April 16 is a chance to be thankful for all the knowledge that librarians possess. You may think of them as book-slingers who spend all day cataloging and reshelving, but librarians play a much more important role. From children’s storytime to literacy classes, libraries offer a wealth of free public resources.
Trained in Library Science, professional librarians work with complex cataloging systems to organize books, make purchasing decisions for their library, liaise with local schools and universities, organize events and programming, teach classes, and more. Their role is constantly evolving to adapt to new technology and social needs. Celebrate National Librarian Day with us and say thanks to the awesome librarians that are always on hand to help.

RING THE BELL: RETURN TO IN-PERSON LEARNING GUIDANCE
Effective immediately, the New Mexico Public Education Department will work with and support schools and districts to expand as quickly and safely as possible to full, in-person learning, so long as it does not conflict with tribal sovereignty. A massive statewide mobilization effort to prioritize and distribute COVID-19 vaccines for all New Mexico school staff by March 2021 is currently under way to support this effort. Under the PED Reentry Guidance Document for full reentry, all students are eligible to return to the building each day. COVID-safe practices as outlined in the updated NMPED Toolkit are still in effect, and schools must practice social distancing to the greatest extent possible. In addition, music, choir, band, school sports, extracurricular programming, and other NMAA-sanctioned activities may resume at all schools, in accordance with COVID-safe practices and NMAA guidelines.

ATTENTION PARENTS OF PRE-K THROUGH 3RD GRADE STUDENTS NOTICE DATED JANUARY 15, 2021
Parents of current PreK students need only to update current information online, they do not need to re-register their student.
The New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department has launched a new service, Reach NM, providing text-based reporting and engagement.
Reach NM allows young people to connect directly with CYFD workers for resources, help, and reporting potential abuse or neglect. The service is free to any New Mexican with a text-message enabled cell phone. Text 505-591-9444 any time to text with an advocate.
You can text with an expert for help finding resources in your community, reach out for assistance with basic needs for yourself or others, report concerns of abuse and neglect in your home, or report suspected abuse or neglect that may be occurring in someone else's home or in the community.
